Practicing Freedom provides participatory, fun and creative processes designed to engage groups in meeting their objectives dynamically and collaboratively.
Facilitation: We provide tailored facilitation for your meetings, staff retreats, conferences, or classrooms in which we create the conditions for your group to progress in the direction in wants to, and have fun. What is unique about Practicing Freedom is that we are grounded in the principles of popular education. This means we start where the group is at, and strive to create spaces where each participant is respected, heard and can bring their ideas freely through dialogue, interactive games, and if you so choose, theater and hands on arts.
We also train people how to facilitate. For examples of workshops for facilitators, check out the Popular Education page
Examples of past work:
- Facilitation of the 2012 Energy Action Coalition Council Meeting, focusing on campaign strategy and group process
- Facilitation of Rainforest Action Network Staff Retreats, Anti-Oppression workshops, Story Based Strategy Process
- Facilitation of the YES JAMs: World Youth Leadership JAM 2000, Ghana Youth Leadership JAM 2000, Latin American JAMs in 2003 and 2007
- Facilitation of the youth program at the 2002 Alchemy of Peacebuilding Conference
Curriculum design: Have a training, course, or process to facilitate and want support in making them more interactive, participatory, engaging? Starting from objectives, we can either write, or support you in writing lesson plan/s and a learning sequence to support those objectives.
Example of curriculum:
Coaching: Support for each step of the educational process. This is like a long term facilitation training – while you do all the facilitating, we can help you design lessons, establish a positive learning environment with your participants, and turn problems that arise into opportunities
